Kiska Island is something of a ship graveyard with numerous wrecks, mostly Japanese. Many Americans are not aware of the Aleutian battles fought on American soil and in Alaskan waters during WW2. The island is so remote that few people visit these ghost ships. The island with all its little-known history and its unspoiled battlefield made a great setting for my novel available now on Amazon’s Kindle.

Thank you for this wonderful site, having worked aboard a US Coast and Geodetic ship in
this area for two years, I am intreiged by the wrecks, I never realized how many there were,
were I a younger man I would return to make Dutch Harbour my home, and maybe go to work
a salvage co. Please keep up your good work, E. Frost ( USG&GSS Pioneer 1951/52)
