From Pete: The weather here now is a ceiling of clouds at about 1000 feet. I can see Atka Island eight miles south of our course. We are taking bow spray from 6 foot swells and wind gusts to 50 miles an hour up to the wheel house windows.
Some of Arts crew are still adjusting to life in the Bering Sea and grogginess is a common ailment of a first Bering Sea trip.
From Art: We have been beating against a 1-3 knot current against us for the last 24 hours. Present and predicted wind and seas north of us out in the Bering Sea are SW 30 and 10-12 feet. We have found somewhat of a lee close to the islands so the seas are down but we see a lot of gusts to 40 kts.
Our SOG varies between 7 and 10. We will arrive off Kiska from the east, passing south of Little Sitkin and Segula Islands, tomorrow evening
