Rhonda Raye deserves special mention here. She has been collecting and organizating information about the crew members and their families. For many of the emotional stories of family members finding this site and resolution to a life long mystery, we owe her a debt of graditute.

Vickie Rodgers has been instrumental in the search for crew member families. She has been working with Rhonda and made quite a contribuition. As soon as I posted this update, I realised that I didn\’t mention Vickie. This was a mistake I hope to correct with this comment.
Vickie found the website and read about a Memorial letter cover with a picture of her Great Uncle, Merritt D. Graham, that was for sale on eBay. I had included a link to the online auction but the link was bad by the time Vickie found it. She commented on the post and asked for any help to at least see the image of the letter - I found the image, but the letter itself had been sold.
Vickie, how does the story continue from here? Did you get the letter envelope?

I just learned when people noticed names disappearing off the crewmember list that other family members were viewing the list but haven\’t checked in yet.
Two things:
1. The list was posted as a starting point for tracking the families of these men down. That way many of us can view what we had and work from there. Then as more and more contacts were found (which is a wonderful thing) trying to fit them all in the tiny boxes while keeping everyone straight and such was becoming impossible. It was also cluttering up the list and hard to tell who had been found and who had not. Instead we\’ve opted to return to the original program of using it as a starting point for finding the rest of the men. When you aren\’t related to the men, any small piece of information is better than none to begin the search. The \”on eternal patrol\” link has a list of all the men. It also can use information about the men (many are lacking dates, pictures, etc.). Posting a bit of information about your relative in the guestbook might also be a good idea.
2. I also found that some of the families have been viewing the webpage but haven\’t posted themselves- Besides the fact we\’d all love to learn more about your relative as all these men lived, worked, and died together. If you wanted to contact Bruce Abele through the site or post here just a brief comment, it would save alot of work as we\’ve still been searching for some of you the last two days only to find you have already found us!!!

The rest of the story is: an email from Rhonda. She told me what she was working on and all I did was say, “Split the list, I’ll help”. And not only have I seen the Memorial cover, Mrs. Susan Abele’s very kindly gave me one. I’m having a local artist do a small portrait from it so I can post a likeness of Merritt on the Eternal Patrol page.
Maybe after we find all the families we could go back and write a short bio on the men. Rhonda has been gathering census records and all the other info we have collected, we now know something about most of the men. 100 years from now families will be able to know the men like we do now. Just a thought, but first thing is to find all the families.
