The picture is of our stats from 9/11 to 9/17. It’s interesting to note, although the total visitors are declining, the pages per visitor is up at 3.91. Also, we have some European visitors this week and the distribution of “visits by source” is good, with a diverse group of referrers.

The total posts on the blog is 42 and a whopping 92 comments! Keep those comments coming!

thanks for visiting, Newman

I’m no expert, I’m probably wrong and I don’t mean to hurt any feelings or quash any hopes but at least one of the sonar images looks like a WWII era destroyer or submarine chaser; not a submarine.
Howard Gilmore sank the Japanese destroyer “Arare” off the coast of Kiska while in the command of the submarine USS Growler.
However, if the sonar images are, in actuallity, that of a submarine, it must be remembered that the Japanese submarine I-25 reported having sunk a submarine near Kiska. It was eventually learned this was a Russian sub en route from Vladivostok to Mare Island California for a “lend-lease” overhaul.
And, the Japanese lost 3 submarines in their attempt to evacuate their troops from Kiska in 1943. Submarine I-9 was rammed and sunk by a U.S. patrol craft. I-31 (or I-24, the records aren’t clear) was depth charged by a U.S. Destroyer. I-7 was shelled and and holed by another U.S. Destroyer but it sank in only 100 feet of water.

Thanks for posting. I was curious as to how many other ships might be in and around the area- Wonder how many might already be pinpointed as to their locations? Of course we all hope it is the Grunion but whatever ship it turns out to be, I’m sure there will be families grateful for the knowledge of it’s location.

So…When is a RV going to be sent down for a positive ID? Are you going to try and get anyone else involved? (Woods Hole)??
