Just in from John:
We found a submarine tonight. We decided to try because of good weather and impending storm. But we have now lost it, despite documenting location. Nevertheless we have photographic documentation showing prop guard of Grunion style. It imploded dramtaically and is a tangle of pipes. It will be difficult or impossible to identify cause. The slide trail was visible as well. We hope to refind. Amazing story.

C.armen Parziale ,a crew member, was my 2nd cousin and my brother Carmen was named for him. This would have been exciting news for my brother but he suddenly passed away last week. Going threw some of his papers I found an article about the Grunion and his name sake Carmen Parziale. My brother was no stranger to the perils of war having received 3 medals of honor in the Viet Nam War and then continuing to work with vetrans of WWII and VietNan as a rehabiliation counslor at the Vetrans Hospital in Coatsville, pa. When the full story of the Grunion is written the Carmen’s will be smiling.
HOORAY, I’m so happy for everyone involved. I know how hard you have all worked to make this happen. With the work of Rhonda and Mary added, the men of the Grunion not only have been remembered but FOUND.
