While off Vietnam on board the U.S.S.Providence CLG-6 our new 6TH Fleet Flag Ship officer, Rear Admiral Robinson and his officers, Captian Taylor and Commander Leaver,JR died in a helicopter crash on our fail tail. The blades cut into a berthing compartment, next to mine, and required skin replacement in Okinawa, Japan. It's the only deaths that I ever really knew, so I still think about them sometimes. Rear Admipal Robinson was buried at sea, the other two men were never found nor the helicopter. As the helo went overboard, the red light on the under side came off, broken, and I still have it. This has little to do with the Grunion except I still remember these lost men, and not talking about them is the worse thing we can do. Anyway, thanks for listening, Art, U.S. Navy Vietnam 1972
