Jim Christley has just completed a third annotated version of the Grunion as it exists today. It is worth studying carefully.

It is in the ‘Christley album’ on the Photo Albums. [The link is in the left menu, titled “Photos Search 07″]

I’m a current employee of General Dynamics,Electric Boat the builder of the U.S.S Grunion in Groton,Connecticut.A story appeared in the local paper The Day dated 2/10/08 on the loss of the Grunion which brought me to research more about the ship, its crew and the loss of the ship.I have spent many days aboard numerous 88’s ,Boomers, all 3 Sea wolfs, and the newest Virginia class being built as we speak.I write this email to commend the sons of the commander of the Grunion and congradulate them on finding the lost ship and crew.If I could I would like to call to their attention the memorial in Groton,Ct. for all lost crews and subs. The Grunion is part of this beautiful memorial.Groton Ct. is the submarine capital of the world and submarines are a big part of the town having Electric Boat and the Groton sub base both on the Thames river approximately 3 miles apart. The memorial is a beautiful place having a conning tower from a world war 2 era sub and granite momorial headstones for the Grunion and many other subs lost at sea.I invite the 3 sons of the commander of the Grunion to visit this memorial or at their request Iwill photograph it for them and I will place special attention to the Grunion.I make this offer to show that their dad,his crew and other lost subcrews were not forgotten and their sacrifice was then and still is appreciated. Please see that they some how recieve this message for them…..Thank you
