To register for the memorial:
1. Go to www.usscod.org/grunionregistraion.pdf and print the registration form. You will need one for each person attending including children. These should be mailed to Dick Bentz along with a check. The address and specific instructions are on the form.
2. Call the Crown Plaza hotel and reserve the appropriate number of rooms. Phone number and code are at the bottom of the registration form.
A number of individuals have considered bringing young children. There are some ramifications.
For the formal memorial (about 1.5 hours) we have a responsibility to provide an atmosphere respectful of the occasion. There are a number of people coming from all over the country to pay their last respects and inappropriate behavior would be extremely upsetting.
We plan to provide a children’s retreat tent. In addition we will have a video of the actual ceremony in DVD form so that a parent can still experience parts of the memorial that they might miss. As we learn more about the details of the ceremony there may be sections that no small child could or would want to sit thru.
