As almost everybody who is familiar with the Grunion story knows the dismal performance of the Mark 14 torpedo was a major contributor to the loss of the sub.
There is a relatively new book out Iron Men & Tin Fish by Anthony Newpower which does an excellent job in describing both the bureaucratic and technical problems behind that debacle. It’s worth reading.
